GAZEBLOCK 220: Warm Walls with Thin Joints
Building with aerated concrete requires a special approach, especially during the cold season. GAZEBLOCK 220 adhesive is an indispensable assistant for laying wall materials such as aerated concrete (gas block), foam concrete, gas silicate, as well as expanded clay blocks, cinder blocks, and even brick.
This adhesive possesses excellent water retention capacity and can be applied in a thin layer (2–3 mm), making the mixture consumption very economical. A thin seam significantly reduces "thermal bridges" (cold bridges) and lowers heat loss through block joints. GAZEBLOCK 220 is also suitable for wall leveling and laying ceramic tiles.
Surface Preparation:
The surface of the blocks must be clean (free of dust, oil, paint). Aerated concrete must not be covered with snow or ice.
Base and air temperature: from +5°C to +30°C (for standard application). For winter adhesive, follow the instructions on the packaging.
It is recommended to treat highly absorbent surfaces with a deep-penetrating primer.
Mixture Preparation:
Use warm water (up to +40°C) to mix the winter adhesive. Ratio: ~1 L of water per 5 kg of dry mix.
Mix until homogeneous, wait 5 minutes, and mix again.
The prepared mortar must be used within 3 hours.
Work Procedure:
Apply the adhesive in a minimal layer (2–4 mm) using a special notched trowel or carriage. It is recommended to keep tools in warm water when working in winter.
Place the block and correct its position within 7 minutes (a rubber mallet can be used).
Remove excess adhesive immediately or cut it off after hardening.
Technical Specifications and Storage
Joint thickness: 2–3 mm.
Consumption: 4–5 kg/m² (depends on joint thickness and block evenness).
Compressive strength (28 days): at least 7.5 MPa.
Adhesion to concrete: at least 0.3 MPa.
Correction time: < 7 minutes.
Storage: 6 months in a dry room. Store winter adhesive at a temperature not lower than +5°C.
